New Digs

It’s a little daunting, trying to come up with the subject for the inaugural blog post on a brand new website. Though Drowning Moon Studios has existed for more than a year now (at this point, even creeping up on two), this is the first time we’ve decided to consolidate our online presence in a single space. And, being the founder and managing owner, that means a lot of different things: it means getting a P.O. box for invoices and deliveries, it means meeting with the bank to make sure everything is set up so we can handle online transactions, and it means putting a face—my face—on the business, so that I’m front and center if something goes horribly wrong.

As someone who is more comfortable behind the scenes, this is a new sensation for me. I’m used to pulling the strings, building the castles, and directing from the wings. I’ve never craved the spotlight, but I’ve always been happy to take a bow at the end of the play. This new role thrusts me center stage and requires me to lead from the front. While this may be unfamiliar territory, I’m reminded that I’m still doing the things I’m most familiar with; telling stories and creating worlds.
