Current Projects and 2020 Updates

It has definitely been a minute since the last time we wrote a blog for the website! Last fall was extremely busy, with playtesting Wayfaring Strange at GenCon, releasing Praedormitium in October, then playtesting Follow Me Down at Metatopia. There have also been a few larp releases since then, including individual releases Strong Female Character and Elsewhere, and mini-collection Distant Stations. Then, of course Covid-19 hit and well… the entire world has had to take a fairly large pause. So, what’s been happening with Drowning Moon Studios in the meantime?

We’ve been doing some work with Magpie Games, and Joie is currently GMing for their Curated Play Program. If you’re interested in playing some great PbtA games online while most conventions are currently cancelled, check them out. And speaking of cancelled cons, four of our scheduled conventions for this year: Breakout, Dexcon, Origins and GenCon have cancelled in favor of public safety during the spread of Covid-19. Two of those conventions, Origins and GenCon have opted to hold online conventions during their regular dates, and Drowning Moon Studios will be running online versions of Praedormitium during those cons.

As for upcoming projects, Praedormitium is due for a major update, including new art, setting material, adventures and playsets, so look for that in the next couple of months. We’re currently discussing how to move forward with Follow Me Down, so expect some updates about that game soon as well. For the moment, Wayfaring Strange is on the backburner, since GenCon last year taught us that it needs a lot more development than we originally thought. King of Cats is still on track for late 2021, though it will need to be playtested before release and that’s difficult to do without con attendance. We’ve also just announced a new project, Goblin Market, that will have an ashcan release sometime later this year. Information about all of these projects can be found on our Current Projects page.

That’s all the news to tell for now. We’ll be updating you next week with links and times for our Origins Online games. Stay safe and we look forward to gaming with you!
